Direct flight to link Wuhan with Moscow
source: hubei.gov.cn 2014-8-1 8:54:54 2014 (Wuhan) International University Rowing Regatta kicked off on July 23, in Moshan Hill scenic spot of East Lake in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province. It was the first international water sport activity held in the East Lake since it was named the national 5A scenic area in October 2013. 12 rowing teams from foreign and domestic elite universities competed in the men’s and women’s 1000m eight with coxswain event. At last, the team from University of Amsterdam, Holland won the men’s event, followed by the teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China and University of Cambridge, Britain. In the women’s competition, University of Otago, New Zealand successfully defended the championship, with Université Panthéon-Assas, France and University of Turin, Italy wining the second place and the third place, respectively. The third “Wuhan Twin Star” Friendly Dragon Boat Racing between Wuhan University (WHU) and Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) was also held. This year’s dragon boat racing consisted of 800m men’s and 500m mixed competitions, as well as an added 200m men’s competition. After fierce competition, HUST won the match 3-0. The overseas and domestic players would gather on July 24 at the same place to take part in a friendly match of dragon boat racing, in order to enhance mutual communication on water sports. In the meanwhile, Chengdu and Wuhan, which held the 2014 International University Rowing Regatta successively this July, would carry out a series of cooperative activities to promote city images and tourism.
