Hubei man donates marrow to Korean girl
(Changjiang Weekly) By Liu Ruiche & Huang Jieying Liu Zhengqiang, a man from Hubei, has been identified as a match by the Chinese Marrow Donor Program (CMDP) three years in a row; in each case, he agreed to donate his marrow to those in need. He is one of the rare few who have been recognized as a marrow match this many times and this often. The first two donations were aborted due to complications on the part of the recipient. On July 11, he received a call from the CMDP for the third time; he was informed that his marrow matched that of a 14-year-old Korean girl. The young girl suffers from aplastic anemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. "People can do a lot of things in a lifetime. However, meaningful things of this nature rarely happen to ordinary people," said Liu Zhengqiang.
