The Great Cities Week, jointly organized by the British Consulate-General in Wuhan and the Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial Government, was held on March 20-24, 2017.
The Week focused on the issues as urban construction, low-carbon transportation, sustainable development and bilateral cooperation.It brought the government officials, experts and scholars and business representatives from London, Manchester, Swansea and Northern Ireland, together with Hubei representatives from all walks of life.
As an essential part of the Week, the Great Cities Forum aimed to provide an exchange platform between the UK and Hubei cities. The attending representatives carried out talks and discussions on smart city and low-carbon development, shared experiences on development of their own cities, and exchanged ideas on the cooperation of industrial transformation.
In addition, a series of other activities like a seminar on the city clusters in UK, a forum on low-carbon transportation, a workshop on architecture and urban design, and riding along East Lake Greenway were held to enrich the cooperation between Hubei and UK as well as drove forward bilateral exchanges on urban sustainable development.
