http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_70e5292b0102ve09.html ::Click During the Chinses spring festival of 2015 8 CECP volunteers visited the ancient Tianbao village with deep history and uniquearchitectural style explored its protecting status in order to offer some help for its preservation.The village has been listed in the pool of national cultural and natural heritage protection projects Tianbao Village whose history is about 1800 years can be dated back to the Tang Dynasty covers an area of more than 2.5 square kilometers. The village has a good reputation throughout the south of the Yangtze River for its name of “Tianbao” which means “green waves the best among all things on the earth the treasure of the nature as invaluable as Luoyang”. Tianbao was ever the county site of the ancient Yifeng County; carrying profound cultural connotation. It also famous for its “bazaar” of “four village gates of the south north east and west two streets in the front and back forty eight lanes forty eight wells bamboos town walls all around and the smell of Chinese water chestnut in the four seasons” winning the name of “small Nanjing”. In addition the village has 141 buildings built in the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty 22 of which are under national priority protection; its ancient flagstone roads have a total length of 7375 meters. There are 43 ancient lanes and 23 ancient gate towers in the village as well. According to written records and not a lot of Tianbao village in ancient times a total of10 graduates 76 Juren and Jie Yuan 11 Wu Juren 139 Zhu Gong and 417 scholars. Now Tianbao village has a population of 5803 residents in 2067 families. With the old ancestral hall over 500 years 7375m long ancient stone road 43 ancient lane 23 ancient gate 36 ancient well 9 ancient bridges 25 ancient plaques 23 historical posters 46 old trees of various kinds a 1486m long ancient city wall a 1631.6m long moat and a Francis Bacon vocational school built in 1919 the village won a reputation of “the first village in Jiangxi”. Besides 230 ancient folk houses 170ancient buildings from Ming and Qing dynasties the remaining buildings in Tianbao village are pseudo-classic architectures builtafter liberation. The antique houses are located in north and face south with a reasonable and organized planning. The Ming and Qing buildings there can be classified into ten categories as ancestral halls pavilions painted Kam Tong Kwun Tong Guanting houses stone Square pagoda andtemples. Officials from the local clan associations were very pleased with our intention to help protect the ancient villagewere willingto have an CECP orchestral concert in their ancestral hall.
