A train in Germany named “Wuhan China”

The train is red in color, with a white Chinese character “Han” on it. The German words “Bahn Rhein-Ruhr” under the window mean “intercity express train in Ruhr region”.

On September 11, a train in Germany, which ran between Rhein and Ruhr, Duisburg was given the name “Wuhan China”. It marked the first train in Germany that was named with title of a foreign city.

Duisburg and Wuhan established sister-city relationship in 1982, and is the first pair of sister cities between China and Germany. Both sides have maintained increasingly close cooperation since then, and Duisburg became the terminus of the Wuhan-Xinjiang-Europe freight train this year.
